I grew up in Gainesville, Florida, where I developed a love of reading both fiction and nonfiction at an early age. I went on to study history in college, where I honed my skills in analyzing written texts. My love of learning led me to take classes across a broad range of different subject areas, for which I was awarded the University of Florida Dean’s Medal for Excellence in Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Subsequently, I earned a master’s degree in elementary education, and taught kindergarten in multiple settings. I now live in Forest, Virginia, where I work as both a kindergarten teacher and a freelance book indexer. The strong communication skills that I have developed in the process of building partnerships with families has made me highly attuned to ensuring that an index is as user-friendly as possible.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Mustafa. He has both South Asian and Caribbean roots, which gives me unique insight into world cultures.
